Susan Beyette's Studio
ART CLASSES
Kingston, Ontario

I am currently (2008) taking a break from teaching art classes for children aged 3 to teen. I have been teaching high school art for a couple of years now.

In the past I have offered weekly sessions in the Spring, Fall and Winter, as well as week-long Summer workshops. Below is a list of some of the classes that I have taught.

KinderArt (ages 3 1/2-6)
Creative Art (ages 5-8)
Advanced Creative Art (ages 7-11)
Art Media for Teens
In each of the above four courses students work with a variety of art media including drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, and sculpture, all at an age-appropriate level. Sometimes we do simple photography projects. Brief discussions of project related art reproductions complement hands-on work.

Drawing and Painting (ages 9-13)
Students explore a variety of drawing and painting materials including pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, pastel, tempera paint, watercolour, and acrylic. The emphasis in this course is on working from observation.

Calligraphy (ages 9-13)
An introduction to Italic lettering, decorative borders and capitals. Students will use felt pens, fountain pens and straight pens to explore Italic lettering on paper. Gothic and Celtic text are sometimes included (depending on the length of the session)

Christmas Gift Workshops (classes for ages 5 to teen) Students make their own special gifts complete with handmade tags/cards and wrapping.
